My heart is fragile like a flower.
Your temper, delicate like a bomb.
Ensnared between love and hate.
Unhinged rage.
And fight or flight.
What have we become?
A blind woman, feeling my way through the endless dark.
My fingertips trace the outline of what used to be love.
Now, it’s hard and jagged.
My heart doesn’t recognize your touch anymore.
Surprised and caught off guard.
Who are you now?
My apathy meets your ambivalence.
Our reluctance dances and sways between us.
We sing animosity like an old, familiar tune.
We recite our lines like a performance.
To an intimate lover, and I shudder.
How far do your arms reach for me?
